Dear Westwood and Bales families;
It has been a tradition, for as long as we can remember to present a BIG check to the principals at the end of the year. The check includes money raised during the school year from various PTO events – such as BBB, Round Up, Adventure Dash, Spirit Store, School Supplies, Sonic Night, Skate Night and Spirit Nights to name a few.
This year the PTO Board was proud, excited and honored to present a check on behalf of all the parent, teachers, families and generous donors from the community. The check was presented today to Mrs. Moffitt, Mr. Whitlock, Mr. Patton, Mrs. McAshlin, Mrs. Parker (we missed you Mrs. Elmore) and Mrs. Hobratschk.
The check presented was for ………. $205,000!!! WOW! It is still so unbelievable! It could not have happened without the hard work of our PTO Board, Committee Chairs, Committee Members, Volunteers, Teachers, Staff and members of our awesome community. Special thanks to our Principals, APs, Counselors, front office teams and all the administrators at Westwood and Bales – you all are so incredible and supportive and we could not do it without your long hours, guidance and support!
Today the principals discussed what they plan to do with the money from PTO. Bales is working on (pending school board approval on construction bids) to build a Steam building – it sounds amazing – and Mr. Patton will provide more information in the near future. He also mentioned the possibility of a school wide (3-5) Genius Hour with some authentic learning! Mrs. Moffitt discussed an outdoor classroom area which we know our K-2 kids will LOVE! She also bought some of the teacher grants from the Education Foundation with funds raised through PTO.
It is hard to believe that 2018-2019 school year is coming to a close…it is equally hard to believe we have already started planning for the 2019-2020 school year!
The 2019-2020 PTO Board was voted on today and will include:
Co-Chairs Crissy Kemp and Annie Clary
Co-VPs Beth Barraza and Stephanie LaCombe
Secretary Laura Malone
Co-Treasurers Holly Herncall and Charis Pollard
Wishing you all a great rest of the week and a wonderful, safe summer with your families!
